Diccusions Abound: Movies

Well, its time for the next discussions abound, and movies were voted on. I picked three, as I could not decide between them all. I would have done more but I fear I would bore you. I hope you enjoy this:
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/515XGD7NEZL.jpg
I'll start with one of my all time favorites, the Charles Dickens novel BLEAK HOUSE. An 8 hour long film, it was not put in theaters, but was made for TV.

[BleakHouse2.267[1].jpg]Gallery BBC costume dramas: Bleak Househttp://www.erasofelegance.com/entertainment/movies/bleakhouse/bleakhouse4.jpgWith a multitude of Characters, deaths, and love stories, this movie will keep you watching until you've got the mystery solved.
http://s3.amazonaws.com/adaptiveblue_img/books/bleak_house/charles_dickens
BBC did a wonderful job at making this movie intriguing, with different camera views that you would never expect. That's basically what it is...the unexpected. It is not rated, being made for TV, and is rather dark all the way through, with some disturbing images to those who are 10 and under. Over all it is not very scary, although the unknown may give you the creeps. :) I really recommend this one.
Return to Main Page for Hoodwinked Posters
Yea, I know, big difference of movie styles, isn't it? =)
Hood winked is a fun twist on the original story of little red riding hood. Although rather dumb at some parts, it oddly has a good message about the different sides of a story and different perspectives. It also has some parts in it that just hits my type of humor, especially the wolf in it.
If your not into animated movies, then don't watch it, but if your feeling ready and willing, give it a go! ;)
Hoodwinked
Anne Hathaway plays Little Reds voice, and although I'm not a fan of hers, she does a good job at it, and I've seen her in a couple other good movies.

Amazing Grace
Last but Definitely not least, Amazing Grace is the story of William Wilberforce and his long battle in court over the slave trade:
http://weblogs.cltv.com/entertainment/tv/metromix/amazing%20grace%20pic%203.jpg
He fought for so long and finally won, although actual slave labor was not abolished for a long time, and there are still slaves in third world countries today, sadly. This movies brings laughter and tears, and is a great history lesson.
http://18thcenturyblog.com/images/uploads/405_medium.jpg
Romola Garai plays his lovely wife, and this picture does not quite do her justice, but oh well. I have see her in other movies and enjoyed her humor and style, and although naturally her hair color is blond, I think the red hair gives her some character. ;-) This is a must see, although dark as well, has images of what happened to the slaves, would not recommend for the younger group.
I will post my tags and award on Monday, just to let you know.
Here are others that have posted about it so far:
Eldarwen
Nahla (Or at least I think she will)
The others have not done it yet.

Awesomeness

Yea, I know the title is a little weird, but certain selected friends of mine will know where that comes from. I know I've been tagged by Eldarwen, and I'm sorry I have not done it yet, but I will do it soon, I've just been really busy lately, so I have not had time to do the blogging thing. I have to go to a violin lesson soon, but I just want you to watch this one video that my mom found yesterday, I thought it was really neat to see her do that. What she is doing is in memory of WW2, 1945 imparticular. This happened in Ukraine... Click HERE to see it.
I will post something better soon!

In Christ,
Jillian

Birthday

My wonderful sister, Laurel, did a post about me on her blog. Thank you so much, sis!
Fifteen does not feel that different at all...oh well. I will post a tag made by me soon, probably tomorrow. My dad has started to try to get a tradition going that on your birthday you say fifteen blessings in your life, or if you were turning 18 to say 18 blessing in your life, and so on. I decided to post them here, which is way easier then trying to post 100 things about myself(winks at Eldarwen:)

1 I have a wonderful God that I serve

2I have a wonderful Mother

3I have a wonderful Father

4I was born (stop smiling! ;)

5I live in the wonderful state of Montana, with a great mountain view.

6I have a great Church

7 I have wonderful friends

8 I have three loving sisters

9I am blessed with piano lessons and violin lessons

10 I have a good place to sleep and plenty of:

11Food and:

12Shelter

13 I have a blog, which is really fun

14 I have Blogging friends

15 I turned fifteen and made myself a carrot cake! (satisfied smile)

Well, got to go!

One of My Poems

I decided it is time to throw a wrench in the stream of tags coming in. So whether you like it or not here is a poem I have written.

The Crystal Bowl
By Caitlin Carstensen

The light of sun diffused
Sends glimmering rays around
The sparkling, dancing drops
Scattering darkness from the ground.
This the same as the joyous Christian
Scatters the light of the Holy Son.

Only water pure and clear
From the earth, the deepest wells
Wash the crystal clear and shining
To catch the beauty no one sells.
This the same as the joyous Christian
Cleansed in the holy water of Life.

May the bowl be filled with fruits
Of the sweetest, crispest kind
From all manner giving, sharing
Heaped to brimming every time.
This the same as the joyous Christian
Filled with the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

Like the Crystal Sea of heaven
Radiant in the glorious light
Stretching out into the distance
Always full and glimmering bright.
This the same as the joyous Christian
A crystal bowl diffusing Christ.

I hope you were blessed.

Caitlin

In the Autumn

Our family loves the season of autumn. We love sweaters and jackets, hot tea, decor in magnificent colours. I enjoy harvesting and setting the garden into sleep mode after a busy summer, and taking long walks on hidden paths not frequented by the general public. For every season God bountifully supplies our needs and the changes remind us of His wonder.

Laurel, Jillian, and my father make special claim on fall as it is the settings for their birthdays. Laurel recently turned 18, celebrating with s'mores, a campfire, a friends. Jillian will have her golden birthday turning 15 on the 15th. She hopes to celebrate by getting her braces removed very soon. My father is after that and we will find some way to spend the time outdoors which is his favorite way to celebrate. When we were younger we would go camping. If he could we would do that again. More things to love about fall.

I have two beautiful sisters.

Laurel, please don't get mad at me, but this is a great pic of you.

Jillian, you are very elegant indeed.

He is one of the few men I know willing to put a costume on. It is his Martin Luther costume.

Our great joy, maiden Hayley.

I guess the outfit looks better than I perceived. The mirror is deceiving.

An autumn stream. A beautiful fall wish to you all.
Caitlin

Hard Times

No, it's not that tragic. Its just hard to find the right background and "decor" for our blog.
Also having a hard time figuring out what to write that will spark peoples interests and not bore them to death, or something like that. It's rather a challenge when ones number of readers is so small. Suggestions, anyone? Requests? I'd like to know.

Jillian

P.S I hear people are having trouble commenting. I have no idea what that is or why it is doing that. Sorry!
